Fix Microphone Problem After iOS 5 / 5.0.1 Jailbreak With Redsn0w

Many of iPhone users experienced problems with microphone of iPhone 4 as it stopped working after iOS 5 jailbreak using Redsn0w 0.9.9b7. After trying FaceTime with contacts, they still have the same problem, no one of contacts could hear them but they could hear their contacts clearly. It is kind of strange as microphone is functioning properly with the Voice Memos app through regular phone calls.

How to Fix Microphone Problem After iOS 5 / 5.0.1 Jailbreak

The only reason behind the stated problem seems that jailbreaking process has not been done through iTunes. In order to jailbreak and iOS device you have to connect your device with iTuens and follow the instruction appears in redsn0w.

However we also have some readers complaining that they have been facing the same problem even after following this process. The possible reason working behind it might be that you activated your device using Redsnow and then getting over it can be done when you activate it to iTunes or SAM. Downloading and installing some jailbreak apps or tweaks in Cydia store might also be the reason for it. In this case, it is recommended that you uninstall all such apps by going in the Manage Tab in Cydia.

After trying all these steps and still facing the error, the last that we can recommend is that you restore your iPhone to the stock iOS 5.0.1 firmware and jailbreak it using Redsn0w 0.9.9b8.

This new iPhone firmware will surely help you stay safe from any untethered jailbreak once publically available; it helps to fix the exploit that has been built up by pod2G and the iPhone Dev-Team.

Here’s how you can try out Windows Phone on your iPhone

Click here to enlargeClick here to enlarge
Curious to see how Windows Phone feels, but don’t have a device around to do so? Us neither. But Microsoft has just released a new HTML 5 website that allows iPhone and Android users to get a taste of the Windows Phone 7 (Mango 7.5) operating system. The trial requires no downloads or registration, and you can try it out by just going to the webpageWindows Phone Demo on your mobile device.

While it doesn’t use any of the data on your phone like your contacts, the demo does give you a pretty comprehensive look at all of Windows Phone’s features. Microsoft uses a blue dot to guide you around the operating system, and obviously some features like voice recognition just don’t work in the browser. Drat, that’s something we really wanted to try.

Help Chronic Dev-Team to Find Jailbreak Vulnerability for U-Jailbreak Ios5[Win+Mac]

Greetings, friends & jailbreakers
!

It has now been several months since I (posixninja) took the stage at JailbreakCon (fka MyGreatFest) in London. Since then, I & other members of the Chronic Dev team have been keeping quietly busy on many fronts, so I thought it was about time to give you all a brief update.

Update on iOS5 Jailbreak
First & foremost: during my JailbreakCon talk in September, I was excited to announce that the Chronic Dev team had already discovered 5 different exploits for use in our upcoming jailbreak. Unfortunately, that announcement was a bit premature, because in the subsequent weeks, Apple found & patched a (critical) few of those exploits, between the beta versions we used for testing and the final release of iOS5 on October 12.

Sadly (and trust us, we are much more sad about this than any of you could possibly be), this has prevented us from being able to release a new jailbreak as quickly as we wanted to. As I hinted at earlier this week on Twitter, I was initially disheartened to think that so many of the countless hours we’ve worked on this jailbreak seemingly went right down the drain.

Not to mention, these are by no means the first exploits that have been “lost” by Chronic Dev (or any other iOS hacking teams) in this manner. In fact, these are just a few in a long-running series of exploits that were patched by Apple before we hackers could make use of them in a free jailbreak for you, our loyal fans.

Well, to be frank… this is bull****!!! And now, Chronic Dev is ready to turn this little information battle into an all-out, no-holds-barred information WAR. So we want to use this experience as an opportunity to explain the method Apple uses to find potential vulnerabilities, as well as to unveil our new master plan, which should not only prevent this from happening to us again in the future, but also allow us to use all of you to find more exploits, so we can ultimately get an untethered jailbreak into your hands as quickly as possible.

How Apple Finds Exploits
One of the primary challenges in working with userland exploits is that, every time any program crashes on your iPhone, a “crash report” is generated and instantly sent back to Apple. As you can imagine, while we’re working out all the kinks in the exploitation of a vulnerability, we may need to crash any particular program thousands & thousands of times.

It’s possible to change your iTunes settings to stop sending this diagnostic information back to Apple, and of course everyone in Chronic Dev has made this change on all our development machines. However, even this is not always 100% effective at preventing Apple from obtaining our data. For instance, if one of us is at a friend’s house and plugs our iPhone up to his or her computer (even just to charge it), it’s very likely that computer is set up to send all our valuable data & crash reports right back to Apple.

As a side note, this is also the primary reason we’re unable to perform or allow any public beta testing of our software before it’s released. Any potential beta tester could be unknowingly sending crash reports back to Apple, which would prematurely alert the company to our exploits & the discovery of their vulnerabilities before we even have the chance to release.

Help Us Help You: Send Us Your Crash Reports
Instead of allowing this vicious cycle to continue, we decided to write a new program to turn Apple’s own beast against its master, per se. All this program requires from you is to attach your iOS device to your computer and click a single button!

At this point, the program copies all the crash reports off your device (which, under normal circumstances, would be sent right back to Apple), and instead sends this data to a secure, private server hosted by your friendly Chronic Dev team. Next, our program proceeds to neuter your copy of iTunes, simply by changing your settings to prevent your computer from sending any further diagnostic information from your device to Apple.

Using this agglomeration of your crash reports and our ninja skills, Chronic Dev will be able to quickly pinpoint vulnerabilities in various programs by using the same techniques Apple currently employs. At the very least, your data will help point us in the direction of which applications are the most vulnerable, so we can focus our time & energy on these with laser-like intensity. And, of course, this will also prevent Apple from accessing all your valuable data, just so they can then turn around and use it against you.

Thank You!
Many thanks in advance for your prompt response & help in this effort, your continued support of GreenPois0n & the Chronic Dev team, and your patience while we continue our never-ending, diligent work on your (free!! coming soon!) untethered jailbreak for iOS5 and/or iPhone 4S.
One final THANKS! While I have spent many of my own hours on the development, design & programming of this tool, especially the back-end, I also owe a great debt of gratitude to:

  • C-Dev hacker Nikias & his lovely wife Hanene – for the many tedious hours they spent programming the front-end & user-friendly interface;
  • C-Dev member OPK – for his graphic design work & the brilliant logo for this app; and
  • Chronic-Dev, LLC – for graciously hosting the servers where we will store the (fingers crossed) millions of crash reports and other data that you all are going to send us momentarily, via this link…

NOTE
: This link is to the Mac beta version of our software. An updated/final Mac version as well as a Windows version will be available in the next 24 hours.

Finally, we will be making a more concerted effort to keep you updated on our progress in the days & weeks to come, so keep checking back here on our blog!

Apple Drops iOS 5.1 Beta 1

Just a quick heads-up: Apple just dropped iOS 5.1 beta 1 to developers. At a first glance the only new feature is dictation support in text input views. Other than that, they’ve probably fixed the battery issue but we can’t confirm that at the moment. Jailbreakers and unlocks STAY AWAY from this beta release.

Dictation Support in Text Input Views
On supported devices, iOS automatically inserts recognized phrases into the current text view when the user has chosen dictation input. The new UIDictationPhrase class (declared in UITextInput.h) provides you with a string representing a phrase that a user has dictated. In the case of ambiguous dictation results, the new class provides an array containing alternative strings. New methods in the UITextInput protocol allow your app to respond to the completion of dictation.

How to Put iPhone 4, 3GS in DFU Mode

How to put iPhone 4, 3GS in DFU Mode ? many of the new users of iPhone 4, 3GS are asking this question. What is the meaning of DFU mode? It means Device Firmware Update. Let's see how to put iPhone 4, 3GS in DFU mode after the jump.

What is the difference between DFU mode and Recovery Mode :

Recovery Mode : Recovery Mode is a state of iBoot that is used during standard upgrades and restores. As iBoot is active, it does not allow you to downgrade your device’s software. Also, unless it is ‘pwned,’ it will not allow custom firmware to be flashed.

DFU Mode : DFU Mode is a special mode where the device can still interface with iTunes, yet it does not load the iBoot. The screen will appear totally black in DFU mode, so you can’t guess whether the device is in DFU or powered down from simply looking at the screen. Because iBoot and the OS are not loaded this exploit makes us able to downgrade your iPhone firmware or upgrade with a custom firmware created by Pwnage tool.

How To Fix iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch Wi-Fi Connectivity Issue After Upgrading To iOS 5

Few days back Engadget reported that some users were facing Wi-Fi connectivity issues after upgrading to iOS 5 or iOS 5.0.1. Based on this discussion thread, it seems to be affecting iPhone 4S, iPhone 4S, iPhone 3GS, the iPads and even iPod touch users.

This is not the first time iOS device users are facing Wi-Fi connectivity issues after upgrading to the latest iOS 5/iOS 5.0.1 software update. Users have reported similar issues with Wi-Fi connectivity after upgrading to iOS 3.x and iOS 4.x software update as well. If you’re facing any of these issues, you can follow these tips to see if one of them resolves the issue until Apple releases an iOS software update to fix the issue:

Basic Troubleshooting:
  • Launch Settings app
  • Tap Wi-Fi
  • Turn Wi-Fi toggle off and then on again
Renew IP Address: If this doesn't work then try to renew IP address, which may be required if you are using a larger wireless network.
  • Launch Settings app
  • Tap on the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
  • Scroll down and tap on the Renew Lease button
Forget This Network: If renewing IP address doesn’t resolve the issue, try establishing a fresh connection with the Wi-Fi network by using the Forget This Network option. Please note that this will clear your current Wi-Fi network settings, including saved Wi-Fi passwords.
  • Launch Settings app
  • Tap on the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
  • Tap on the Forget This Network button
  • You will be prompted with a message that your iOS device will stop automatically joining this network. Tap on the Forget button.

  • Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until "slide to power off" slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider and iOS device will turn off after a few moments.
  • Turn iOS device on by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset Network Settings: If restarting your iOS device doesn’t resolve the problem then reset all network settings. Please note that this will clear your current cellular and Wi-Fi network settings, including saved networks, Wi-Fi passwords, and VPN settings.
  • Launch Settings app
  • Tap General
  • Scroll to the bottom of the screen and tap on Reset
  • Tap Reset Network Settings
  • When the device restarts, try to locate and join the Wi-Fi network again.

Siri Proxy Can Add Limitless Functionality To Siri

Siri Proxy is a proxy server for Apple’s Siri “assistant.” The idea is to allow for the creation of custom handlers for different actions. This can allow developers to easily add functionality to Siri.

The main example is a plugin to control a thermostat with Siri. It responds to commands such as, “What’s the status of the thermostat?”, or “Set the thermostat to 68 degrees”, or even “What’s the inside temperature?”
For more info and the source code for Siri Proxy check out github. Head over the break to check out the videos….

CYDER 2 Install Cydia Packages without WiFi / 3G Internet Connection

[TUTORIAL]

With Cyder, you can install aplications, (or unlock without wifi) on jailbreacked iphones , without internet or cydia, just put your *.deb aplications on archive Folder, and their appear for install on your iphones.-
the latest version of itunes make probs, using cyder, the files here have solved this problem

You need update itunes to last 10.5 version first!!

Hello everyone !
I remember when I first got my iPodClick here to enlarge touch 2G, I didn’t have a Wi-Fi connection. So obviously I was irritated that I couldn’t download any Cydia apps.
Well, I chanced upon Cyder at the time ! And it was great, but it was a bit rusty, had a few bugs and crashed often.
However, it's been a while since Cyder 2 has released and it has none of the problems the original Cyder had. So I think it’s only fair that I should write a tutorial on how to use it.

WHAT IS CYDER 2 ??
Cyder 2 is a revamped version of Cyder, a program that lets you browse, download and install the various packages from Cydia sources to your iPodtouchClick here to enlarge/iPhone. It is extremely useful for people who don’t have Wi-Fi.

REQUIREMENTS:
You will need the following :
-Jailbroken iPod touch/iPhone with Cydia
-USB cable
-Cyder 2 [Download Link 1] [Download Link 2]
-SSH Program like WinSCP,iFunBox [OPTIONAL]

How do I use it ?
1)Plug in your iDevice via USB cable
2)Open up Cyder 2
3)You would see the following Tabs on top of the windows – Sources, Packages, Downloads, File Manager,Settings

SOURCES-Add Cydia Sources here

1)If you don’t see sources already click “Get sources from Cydia”. You can also add sources by right clicking. You can transfer the sources over to Cydia and also import installed packages via the buttons.
2) Here is a list of the default Cydia sources:
Quote:

PACKAGES-View Cydia Packages here (Via sources added)

1)You can scroll through a list of packages, or filter them by Source, Section or Modified. You can also Search for packages here.
2)When you select a package (e.g. Winterboard) you can view its details. You can see its dependencies, source, author etc.
3)Download a package by right clicking and choosing to either download only that package or the package and its dependencies. It is preferrable to always download with dependencies.

DOWNLOADS-Download Cydia Packages

1)You can see all packages that are chosen to be downloaded from the Packages section.
2)There is a thumbnail at the right of each package indicating that the package status. [Grey Box=Not Downloaded , Blue Arrow=Downloading, Yellow/Orange Box=Downloaded]
3)You can choose to download whichever packages you want here by right clicking again and choosing from the options.
4)In case you did not choose to Download with dependencies, you can even add the dependencies of a package on this screen.

FILE MANAGER-Manage Downloaded Packages

1)You will see all the packages you downloaded earlier in this tab.
2)You now have the option to either transfer them into Cydia’s Cache , Cydia’s AutoInstall or the AppCake Folder.
3)I prefer transferring to Cydia’s AutoInstall as transferring Cydia’s cache has proved a bit unreliable for me. You can also transfer them into the AppCake folder to install via AppCake
4)To install the packages, drag them into Cydia AutoInstall.
5)Close Cyder 2.
6)Reboot iDevice !
7)Respring iDevice
8)In case the package does not install still try Rebooting and Respringing once more.

SETTINGS-The Control Panel

1)You won’t need to go much into settings and I barely (NEVER) use it.
2)You can use a proxy for transferring packages, edit confirmation messages and check compatibility. (Nothing Great)
3)As I said before you do NOT need to bother about Settings.

THE “Cyder2” Folder

1)The Cyder2 Folder is what you get after you unzip the Cyder2 zip file.

A Proxy Server For Siri, Hack Without Jailbreak and tools

Hacker Creates A Proxy Server For Siri

Few days back, hacker at Applidlium had managed to crack Siri is security protocol that made Siri limited for iPhone 4S only. A hacker today created a proxy server for iPhone 4S’ Siri which named Siri Proxy.

Applidium hack says that idea behind the proxy server is to make it easy for developers to add unlimited functionality to Siri. He released the source code of the created Siri Proxy with the instructions on how to set it up on the well known social coding site – GitHub.

Moreover, the hacker has also demonstrated how the created proxy server works by crating a plugin to control a Wi-Fi thermostat, commands such as “What is the status of the thermostat?” or “Set the thermostat to 68 degrees”, or even “What’s the inside temperature?”.

Hack Without Jailbreak

He mentioned that this won't let you get Siri on other device, it just for you to add your own functions to Siri.

Quote:
I’m the creator of this particular hack, and I can assure you, it doesn’t require the iPhone to be jailbroken. My iPhone 4S is not jailbroken. The only action I needed to take on my iPhone was to install my fake Root CA. Which you can do without jailbreaking. Everything else is done outside of the phone, so it requires no jailbreaking or code to be placed on the phone itself.

Tools here.

Microsoft Promises Less Annoying Restarts With Windows 8 Updates

Microsoft has promised a better experience for end-users regarding Windows Update for Windows 8, specifically the way the system is implemented regarding system restarts.

Microsoft’s Farzana Rahman, the group program manager for Windows Update, has posted about the details of the planned improvement for Windows Update on Windows 8 on an extensive blog post in the Building Windows 8 blog.
According to Rahman, Windows 8 OS updating will be improved in two main ways.

First, she says that Windows Update will consolidate all restarts in a month, synchronizing with the monthly security release (you might know this by its “Patch Tuesday” moniker) and that Windows Update will notify you of any upcoming automatic restart in the log-in screen.

For the first area of improvement, Rahman writes:
“This means that your PC will only restart when security updates are installed and require a restart. With this improvement, it does not matter when updates that require restarts are released in a month, since these restarts will wait till the security release. Since security updates are released in a single batch on the second Tuesday of every month, you are then getting essentially one restart a month. This simplification helps in three ways: it keeps the system secure in a timely manner, reduces restarts, and makes restarts more predictable.”

Nonetheless, there’s an exception to this rule so there might be times when the ideal one-restart-per-month for Windows Update will not hold true.

User experience with Windows Update will be improved for Windows 8. Image: Microsoft

This is for times when a patch for a very critical vulnerability with Windows 8 is released by Microsoft. Rahman assures, however, that “this will happen only when the security threat is dire enough.”

For the second area of improvement, Rahman says that Windows Update will notify the user on the log-in screen that an upcoming automatic restart is scheduled by Windows 8 Windows Update.

This notification will last for three days, Rahman says, to “allow you to restart at your own convenience”.
With Windows 8, users will also “no longer see any pop-up notifications or dialogs about pending restarts” while on the desktop or on the home screen.

Microsoft has also thought of the loss of data with Windows 8 as users sometimes get shocked that Windows has automatically restarted without them being able to save their current work before the restart occurred.

According to Rahman:
“If after three days, the restart still has not occurred, then WU will automatically restart your PC for you. In this case, the automatic restart will happen either at the end of the three-day grace period, or, to prevent data loss if WU detects that there are critical applications open at the end of the three-day grace period, it will wait to automatically restart the next time you login.”

She continues:
Delay the automatic restart if there is potential of losing user data. If the PC has hit the three-day deadline and still needs an automatic restart, WU will only automatically restart the machine if there is no chance of losing the user’s data. That means, if you are not at your PC (i.e. it is locked), if you have applications running in the background, or if there is potentially unsaved work, WU delays the automatic restart until the next time you come back to your machine and log in. At log-in, you will be asked to save your work, and you’ll see a warning that the machine will be restarted within 15 minutes.”
So if these improvements are implemented seamlessly with Windows 8, users can expect a better experience with Windows Update on the next-generation Microsoft operating system.

You can read Rahman’s post here for more details about the improvements being made to Windows Update on Windows 8 along with data about current user behavior regarding Windows Update on other Microsoft operating systems.

iPhone 4S can reportedly be unlocked without any hardware or software changes

A developer (via Chronic) has apparently discovered how to unlock the iPhone 4S (reportedly AT&T version only) without any software or hardware tweaking. The unlock will assist you in using your iPhone 4S on T-Mobile’s network as long as you have a T-Mobile SIM card. Before you get started, go ahead and cut down your T-Mobile SIM card to match your AT&T SIM card’s size. We’re working to confirm this works, but go ahead and give the following directions a try:

  1. Insert original carrier AT&T SIM card
  2. Dial 611 for AT&T customer service hotline and drop the call
  3. Turn on Airplane Mode

  4. Take out AT&T SIM card
  5. Insert T-Mobile SIM card
  6. Make sure WiFi is off ( also tap on ‘Forget this Network” to make sure it doesn’t connect automatically later)
  7. Switch off Airplane Mode and iPhone will search for network. This is followed by the Apple splash screen appearing.
  8. Activation Required will be displayed on the screen
  9. EDGE network will activate automatically – notice the ‘E’ on the top left corner of the screen
  10. Wait for about 20-30 seconds and turn off the phone
  11. Turn on iPhone and the same Activation Required screen will be displayed
  12. When you see one signal bar, tap on Use Cellular Connection
  13. Eject SIM card
  14. Activation Required screen will be displayed the second time
  15. Insert SIM card

What do these new items in iTunes mean about your Match Library?

If you don’t know by now, Apple has officially opened up their iTunes Match service to the public, bringing with it 256-kbps AAC DRM-free copies of your non-iTunes purchased music for $25 a year. To help familiarize users with the service, Apple has posted the following chart walking us through some new iTunes Match related iCloud icons you’ll start to notice in iTunes.

In the troubleshooting guide, we learn you can enable a column within iTunes to display the iTunes Match/iCloud status of any given song in your library. For example, whether it’s a “Matched” song or just “Uploaded”. To do this, click “View > View Options” or press “Command-J“, and click the “iCloud Status” checkbox (same place you also enable “iCloud download”).
A MacRumors forum poster also offers a few helpful hints, while noting iTunes Match keeps your meta-data (a nice touch if you tend to edit data associated with your songs), the post clears up some concerns regarding the intricacies of what happens with your local copies: If you need yet more clarification regarding DRM and which songs are eligible for iTunes Match, Apple breaks down the main things you need to know:
  • iTunes Match is currently available only in the United States. Songs purchased outside of the United States iTunes Store containing DRM will not be matched or uploaded to iCloud.
  • If a song contains DRM and is no longer available on the iTunes Store for purchase, the song is uploaded to iCloud and made available for download in protected DRM format. You will be required to authorize your computer or device for playback.
  • A song will not be uploaded to iCloud if the song contains DRM, was purchased using a different Apple ID, and could not be matched.
  • When you subscribe to or enable iTunes Match, your iOS device or computer will be associated to the Apple ID being used for iTunes Match.
As for iTunes Match supported file formats, Apple explains:
  • Songs encoded as MP3 or AAC that have been matched to the iTunes Store will be made available for download as 256 kbps as AAC from iCloud.
  • Songs encoded as MP3 or AAC that cannot be matched to the iTunes Store will be uploaded as is. These songs will be made available for download in the same format it was uploaded in.
  • Songs encoded as MP3 or AAC with a bitrate of 96 kbps or less will not be matched or uploaded to iCloud.
  • Songs encoded as ALAC, WAV, or AIFF, will be transcoded in iTunes to 256 kbps AAC when uploaded to iCloud.
  • Song files over 200 MB will not be uploaded to iCloud.

Developers crack Siri’s security protocol to enable it with any device, though there’s a catch

The developers over at Applidium are claiming they have cracked Siri’s security protocol, which could enable the speech recognition technology on any device. The possibilities of devices range from iPhone 4, to iPad, to Mac, to even Android.

Last month we showed you Siri running on an iPhone 4 (seen above), but today the possibilities look beyond that. With the crack, developers could even work to implement Siri inside of their own apps. Of course, Apple could push a fix for this sparking another cat and mouse game.
When it comes to this crack you actually need a UDID of an iPhone 4S to get this working. At any time Apple could block the UDID if they see something suspicious.

Applidium has released a set of tools for developers to begin cracking, and says it will be fairly easy to obtain a UDID with them. Check out their post for all of the details.

They also found that Apple uses a ton of information when communicating with its own servers when it comes to Siri. The iPhone 4S really sends raw audio data. It’s compressed using the Speex audio codec, which makes sense as it’s a codec specifically tailored for VoIP.
The iPhone 4S sends identifiers everywhere. So if you want to use Siri on another device, you still need the identfier of at least one iPhone 4S. Of course we’re not publishing ours, but it’s very easy to retrieve one using the tools we’ve written. Of course Apple could blacklist an identifier, but as long as you’re keeping it for personal use, that should be allright!

Apple Releases iTunes 10.5.1; Launches iTunes Match In The U.S.

Apple has just released iTunes 10.5.1. Though it doesn't seem to be available via Software updates, when you click on the Free download link on the iTunes page, it takes you to the download page where iTunes 10.5.1 is available for download. Based on iTunes 10.5.1 beta that was seeded to developers, it includes a number of performance and stability improvements for iTunes Match - one of the major features of iCloud. iTunes 10.5 that was released last month included the following new features:

  • iTunes in the Cloud. iTunes now stores your music and TV purchases in iCloud and makes them available on your devices anywhere, any time, at no additional cost.
    • Automatic Downloads. Purchase music from any device or computer and automatically download a copy to your Mac and iOS devices.
    • Download Previous Purchases. Download your past music, TV, app, and book purchases again, at no additional cost. Previous purchases may be unavailable if they are no longer on the iTunes Store.
  • Sync with your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 5.
  • Wi-Fi Syncing. Automatically sync your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iTunes any time they’re both on the same Wi-Fi network.

You need to go to the iTunes download page (this link) to download iTunes 10.5.1.
Update: It looks like Apple has also launched iTunes Match service in the U.S.iTunes Match is a new service that Apple had unveiled along with iOS 5 and iCloud at the WWDC 2011 Keynote address in June. It allows users to store their entire music collection (up to 25,000 songs), including songs that they've ripped from CDs or purchased from anywhere else in iCloud. Here's how it works: iTunes determines which songs in your collection are available in the iTunes Store. Any music with a match is automatically added to your iCloud library for you to listen to anytime, on any device. Since there are more than 18 million songs in the iTunes Store, most of your music is probably already in iCloud. All you have to upload is what iTunes can’t match. Which is much faster than starting from scratch. And all the music iTunes matches plays back at 256-Kbps iTunes Plus quality — even if your original copy was of lower quality. It costs $24.99 per year. iTunes Match will initially available only in the U.S. and expected to be available in other countries sometime later. Apple was initially expected to launch iTunes Match service along with the launch of iCloud and iOS 5, but has delayed it to fix the outstanding bugs.

Apple Releases iTune 10.5.1 With iTunes Match to the Public

Apple has officially released iTunes 10.5.1 to the public following several developer betas. iTunes Match has been in the final testing stages for months, and beta 3 of the cloud music service was seeded to developers over the weekend.

Alongside iTunes 10.5.1, Apple is finally releasing iTunes Match to the US public today after a two week delay. It’s finally here…

The new iTunes is also available on Apple’s website, and the 10.5.1 is propagating in Software Update for Mac and Windows users. iTunes 10.5.1 is required to use iTunes Match, and iOS 5 users will be able to access their tracks in the cloud once the service is enabled in iTunes

Neither iTunes 10.5.1 nor iTunes Match seem to be available for everyone yet, as Apple is still rolling things out. If you can’t get the new iTunes in Software Update, we recommend downloading it directly from Apple’s website.

iTunes Match is still a US-only service.

More screenshots:

Apple also confirmed the availability of iTunes Match in the U.S., with the following announcement on their iTunes page. iTunes Match syncs users’ music to iCloud for $24.99 a year. Unlimited songs can be synced and doesn’t affect iCloud storage, but only songs that are available on iTunes can be synced.

Even though it is available to the public, Apple is still labeling iTunes Match as a beta product. Developers who tested Match will still receive a free three months with a year subscription.
